Buy Cheap New Bentley
While the company may be German-owned, these days (by Volkswagen Group) and separated from its one-time life-partner,
Rolls-Royce, following a deal struck with BMW, nothing can diminish the sheer Britishness of its excellence of build
quality and hand-formed elegance of manufacture and appearance. Bentley remains a brand that is deeply entrenched in
motoring excellence and one which is still capable of garnering the respect and adulation of car buyers, admirers and
critics around the world. Yet, it was a brand that could have all but disappeared during its less than glorious period
under British corporate stewardship. For several years, it was little more than a badge-engineered version of a
Rolls-Royce, available for slightly less money, because less expensive hardware was used in its production, although
it was made on the same lines at Crewe as its alter ego from Rolls-Royce. It took an amazing shot of bravado in the
early-1980s for the struggling company to produce a turbocharged variant (Mulsanne Turbo) that set new standards in
both performance and amazing dynamics. A near 2.5-tonne behemoth capable of hiking up its skirts and blasting from
0-60mph in a smidgen below six seconds was stunning at the time, even if nobody knew its power output, or it scarcely
possessed the brakes to arrest its marauding progress. Yet, the one-time "Blue Train"" baiting, sporting carmaker was
placed back on the map and, in its latest guises, creates a compelling purchase that is not the preserve of the
glitterati. In fact, eminently capable and huge fun to drive, the current Bentley line-up is almost shockingly
outstanding in its range of strengths.
