three letters actually originate from the surnames of the founders of the company, Messrs Den, Aoyama and Takeuchi. In
fact, the company was known in 1914 as the DAT Motorcar Company. Nissan was originally a foundry and auto-parts
manufacturing business, which would acquire the DAT company and the Nissan brand was born in the mid-1930s. Its
motorcar connection came to fruition in 1930, when it built the Austin 7 under a questionable license from the UK.
However, it was not until some time after WW2 finished that Nissan renewed its relationship with the British
car-making industry, again with Austin, to build 2,000 Austins from kits and sell them to the Japanese market bearing
the Austin name in the early-to-mid-1950s. Yet, despite selling a few models into the North American car scene in the
late-1950s and through the early-1960s, it was the 240Z sports model, which so many observers believed to be no less
than a modern-day equivalent of the much-loved Austin-Healey 3000, that gave Nissan a world stage upon which to play.
Undoubtedly helped by the early-1970s fuel crisis, Nissan discovered that its products were in demand in North America
and other overseas markets. A major sales initiative was started and it did not look back until the late-1990s, when
it experienced major financial difficulties in its home market. Ultimately, it was rescued by a bid from French
carmaker Renault, which established a strategic partnership that has since become a model for other carmakers. This
has extended into platform and technology sharing, with several models across the two carmakers' brands creating
convenient rivalry. Nissan has always offered great finnace and leasing edals so if you are looking for a Nissan PCP
