Mercedes-Benz CLC Coupe
The Mercedes-Benz CLC coupé BlueEfficiency was designed to replace the previous C Class Sport Coupé; the CLC not only appears with the new Mercedes look derived from the attractive C-Class but under the skin, the CLC has been entirely reworked to create a marvellous and refined small coupe. Surprisingly, only the doors and roof come from the former C Class Coupe; a new nose and headlights are very attractive, meaning the CLC will hold its head high against more expensive cars, such as the CL, E Class Coupe and CLS. The four petrol and two diesel BlueEfficiency engines provide better power, better fuel economy and fewer CO2 emissions which must be good. Steering is from an SLK, whilst suspension has been modified to give better ride comfort and hadling. Modifications give the Mercedes CLC BlueEfficiency a fluency belying its original age. The CLC 220CDI BlueEfficiency will be the best selling CLC after the 180k. Though the diesel engine is a little noisy, and delivers lacklustre performance, the 3-pointed star on its nose adds a real cache. The CLC interior cabin is attractive and there is plenty of leg and arm room up front, with enough rear room for the grand children! The boot is impressively large (the golfclubs should fit easily). If a more powerful engine is chosen like the 268PS CLC 350 Sport Blue Efficiency which offers a responsive V6 – the question is will many new Mercedes CLC BlueEfficiency customers spend the extra money (£27,420)? The Mercedes CLC introduces new buyers to the Mercedes family. The CLC is not a superb model but offers an authentic Mercedes-Benz experience. For many, that is all that is needed to splash out on a new Mercedes CLC.
