New for 2010 Mazda 5, Mazda 3 SUV, CX7 Diesel
Mazda UK has announced a new Mazda 5. The new car will be seen first at the Swiss motorshow in Geneva. Mazda has also designed a new mid-size (slightly smaller than a Qashqai) cross over SUV vehicle to be modelled on the present successful Mazda 3. The CEO of Mazda Europe said all new Mazda ranges would henceforth have global appeal rather than a specific regional design. Mazda is also developing new powerplants that are around 20 per cent better on fuel and emissions than current units (due in 2011). Further development in engine technology and reduced weight should mean that a 30 per cent improvement is possible by 2015. A new Mazda CX7 SUV diesel has been announced at the motorshow in Frankfurt, giving the brand a wider range. Mazda feels the new car market in the EU may reduce to 13m cars by the end of next year 9compared to a projected 15m new cars by December 2009 as government incentive schemes finish.
NEW MAZDA 6 - A REAL WINNER!
The new Mazda 6 compares well with the Accord, Avensis, Mondeo and Insignia. A fresh design, the new Mazda 6 is available in a number of highly-equipped versions, with 5-speed or 6-speed, manual or auto transmission Fuel economy will range from 20 - 29mpg for the Mazda 6 Sport or Touring ranges. Standard equipment includes TPMS, independent front/rear suspension and stabiliserbars, advanced front/side airbags, side aircurtains and tractioncontrol. The silhouette comes from Mazda Nagare designlanguage, characterised by fluid and dynamic lines and details in harmony with the environment. The enw Mazda 6 has a mono coque body which is almost 7" longer than the outgoing car. The longer wheel base and dimensions haven't damaged driver dynamics one bit. If anything, the size has improved the new Mazda 6's handling and stability and remains well balanced in fast but tightening corners. The 11" ventilated brakes are standard equipment on the whole range and perform well without fade. The ride inside the comfortable cabin is well controlled and pretty quiet. The 5-speed manual box is delightful and the autos change smoothly. The V6 cars have Mazda’s AAS control system from the RX8 which detects entertaining road conditions, then selects a gearratio with optimum throttle response. The APS also quickens downshifts for more stable cornering, then holds on to gears for longer. The new Mazda 6 is improved in many ways, not least the build quality. Overall, the new Mazda 6 competes well with any Japanese rival, and frankly is a reasonable alternative to much more expensive German machines.
