BUY, FINANCE OR LEASING QUOTE - UK NEW CARS - NO CAR IMPORTS

Mazda has an interesting history. It is remarkable to review developments that have occurred in the Japanese motor scene in recent decades. Nissan is partners with Renault. Toyota is becoming so large it is vying for world domination. Honda is retaining its independence vehemently. Suzuki, Isuzu and Subaru, have been partnered or owned by GM at varying stages of relationships. But Mazda, which is 33% owned by Ford Motor Co is so profitable that it is assisting its N American partner (during a difficult period). Originally known as Toyo Kogyo Corporation, Mazda was among the first Japanese car makers to produce a motor car, with the Mazda- Go in 1931. However, as tended to happen in certain countries around the 1939-45 period, hostilities stopped play, until it was clear those nations could be trusted to build new cars - not war machines. Although not sold in the UK, Mazda's first car of the new era was a city runabout, the R360, in 1960. However, this was an extraordinary decade for Mazda, which introduced rotary engines and a sports car among a range of genuinely innovative yet amazingly desirable family cars. The 70s had a great start but ended less well, with Mazda experiencing a major financial crisis. Ford came to the rescue and, to put it simply, Mazda never looked back. Ford's management on the company also brought about a less creative period until early-2000 when a non-stop run of exciting new models enabled Mazda to break all previous sales records. Mazda also made money and encouraged a remarkable cross-section of car buyers to try Mazda for the first time.
