New Nissan Qashqai due in Car Showrooms 1 March 2010
A face lift moves the best-selling Nissan Qashqai family crossover right upto date by introducing a new look bonnet design, bumper shape, wings, front grille and headlights. These updates provide better looks and incorporate new LED backlights. A new super-efficient Pure Drive version promises to return 60 miles per gallon whilst emitting 129 gkm CO2 which lowers the tax cost over the outgoing model appealing to both business and private owners. The range includes a 1.6L petrol upto a powerful yet frugal 2.0L diesel. New for 2010 is stability control included across the entire Quashqai range. There are two new colours: Metallic Magnetic Red or Mineral Grey. The interior has been improved with redesigned dashboard and dials. A new LCD screen offers current and journey average MPG. The new Nissan Qashqai is more refined with a quieter interior due to extra-layer sound deadening on the bulkheads and an ‘acoustic’ wind screen minimising noise levels. When the new Qashqai arrives in Nissan showrooms this March, the 1.6L Visia starts at £15,395 OTR, whilst the diesel versions cost £16,795 OTR upwards. Of course, Broadspeed will negotiate the best Nissan discount price and introduce cheap Qashqai new car UK dealers.
NEW NISSAN QASHQAI +2 N-TEC
The new Nissan Qashqai has a 1.5L diesel motor which produces 106 PS - so it's hardly a sportscar. Nevertheless, 0-60 time is 12.2 seconds (and maximum 108 mph) isn't slow - but the six speed box demands a liberal use of revs to perform well. At motorway speed, the Qashqai comfortably maintains decent speeds, even if holding several passengers with a boot full of luggage. The Nissan n-tec Qashqai has 18" alloy rims as standard which provide surprisingly good ride. Suspension is well damped whilst power-steering (which is electrically powered) and good braking mean a relaxed if uneciting drive. The Nissan Qashqai was rated well in the JDPower Ownership Satisfaction Survey coming a creditable 8th/101 - and it feels well built. The n-tec spec is good, for example you get a huge panoramicroof made from laminated glass which will not shatter should you flip upside down. Remote control c/locking, speedsensitive autolock and ultrasonic alarm are all included. The longer Nissan Qashqai +2 model’s small 3rd row of seats are not designed for for adults, and if you do use them, boot space is practically nothing. But if you fold them flat a full 450L load space is revealed. The Qashqai n-tec offers the Nissan_Connect package including Sat Nav with traffic information, full post code lookup for UK and Europe, a colour reverse camera, bluetooth for your mobile telephone and a USB MP3, iPod, stick facility. CO2 emmissions are 149 gkm so your VED will cost £120 (in 2009), and insurance is a reasonable group6. Despite its 4WD looks, the Qashqai 1.5 n-tec is drives only the front wheels - and given the added 7-seat configurtaion, the fact that it occupies the same ground area as a Focus is a real feat.
Nissan announces the New Nissan Leaf
Nissan, the major car maker from Japan announces its premier Electric car this week. Taking Nissan nearer its aim of becoming the first car manufacturer to mass-produce an all electric vehicle. A zeroemission hatch back car, named the Leaf, is planned to go on sale in the Japanese and US markets by 2010, and the European market in the following year. CEO of Nissan Mt Carlos Ghosn didn't set pricing but said the Leaf price would be "highly competitive". "The fixed cost per month of battery and charge will lower than the equivalent using petrol," Mr Ghosn said.
