Traditional Morgan build standards that include the use of ash wood for chassis and panel formers, with aluminium sheet for exterior panels, underwent a major change with the introduction of the Morgan Aero8 in 2000. In their place were an aluminium chassis featuring racing-style construction and the extensive use of carbon-fibre. The cycle-wing appearance remained true to Morgan's origins. Only recently that Morgan has seen fit to peer a little further into the future, considering primary and active safety laws and even taking an adventurous approach to its styling. The latest styling study, called Aeromax, is a case in point. Morgan celebrates its centenary in 2009. In terms of its design, it would appear that the Morgan Motor Company remained in a 30s groove established by the original founder of the company, Mr HFS Morgan, Malvern, Worcestershire. Peter Morgan (who died in 2003) took over in 1959, the business is now run by Charles Morgan, HFS's grandson, and traditional standards have been maintained regardless. In a manner not too dissimilar to that of Porsche, the company is supportive of its origins and attitudes have ensured that customer's fascination remains as strong as ever, with a long order book and the attractive position that buyers prepared to await several months after placing their initial order, before the arrival of their new Morgan.
