Rear-engined cars were a start and continue to be important to Porsche, but it went on to produce front-engine, rear-drive sports cars, from the 924 and 944 models up to the 928 and even the very capable 4x4 Cayenne (which relies extensively on Volkswagen's Touareg for the chassis).
