NEW HONDA JAZZ - UK PRODUCTION
The highly successful Honda Jazz super mini will be UK produced for the very first time - in Swindon, Wiltshire. The Jazz is to be the 3rd modelrange to be built in South Marston, along with Honda's Civic hatchback and CRV SUV. The Jazz 1.2L + 1.4L motors are to be built in SWindon too. Honda management took the decision to add Jazz production in the UK only a year ago, as European Honda car dealers were selling Japanese imports in ever growing numbers. The decision forced the factory's three thousand four hundred workers to become production ready in a very short period. UK Jazz production has been warmly welcomed by management and unions alike as the whole factory recently closed to allow for falling Honda sales. A Honda director said: “Adding a 3rd model is securing the factory's future. Customers take more and more notice where their new Honda is built, supporting the UK car industry, so we are very pleased to be making the Honda Jazz here in Swindon.” The initial Swindon-built new Honda Jazz cars will arrive on Honda dealer forecourts in October 2010. Discounts on the new Honda Jazz are expected to make its price highly competitive.
2010 Honda Insight Review
The first Honda Insight wasn't a big success, being eclipsed by the highly successful Prius; but now the hybrid market is to become far more competitive. The Insight's look is aerodynamically formed, not copying the Prius which follows a somewhat similar line. This isn't so surprising as the current crop fuel-efficient hybrid vehicles strive for aerodynamically honed contours rather than good looks. Designers need to produce new cars that are more and more led by scientific rather than consumer demands. The new Honda Insight is surprisingly good to drive; but don't buy an Insight if acceleration is high on your list of priorities (the CVT transmission doesn't help), but handling and roadholding are really very acceptable, considering the skinny lowresistance tyres. Honda's regenerative braking is efficient and with good feel - though admitedly this is helped by its lightweight construction. The cabin is attractive and up to date with a day-glow speedo and IMAdisplay. Front seats are comfortable and passengers have plenty of room, but the rear seat is cramped. The Insight isn't a particularly quiet car with evident road, tyre and mechanical noise to put up with, but this is what hybrid car owners must expect. Fuel economy doesn't quite match the latest Prius, but overall, the Insight is a more rounded and practical package. Add to that Honda's reputation for bullet-proof build quality, and many buyers will choose the Insight; that's not to say the Prius is badly made, far from it. But the new Honda Insight benefits from years of satisfied customers who have never paid for a single repair.
NEW HONDA JAZZ REVIEW
The new Honda Jazz always scores highly in terms of owner satisfaction and reliability surveys: there's a good reason for that - most Honda Jazz owners simply have nothing negative to say. Fundamental to the Honda Jazz success story are these factors: 1. bullet-proof reliability, 2. fantastic, userfriendly clever design and 3. unbeatable practicality for a small hatch. The Jazz isn't a large car yet, in fact it's small compared to super mini competitors, but it's huge bootspace has a smart fold-flat back seat that accommodates as much luggage as many rather larger cars. The new Honda Jazz is both a wider and longer wheelbase than the outgoing model, but this all new Honda Jazz has noticeably more space in the back. This new-generation Honda Jazz modelrange offers two petrol motors (1.2L & 1.4L) and these two new engines offer more power than the old Jazz model, but remain extremely refined and economical. The new Honda Jazz i-Shift is a 6-speed automatic/manual transmission offering the best of both worlds: a manual shift with a sequential paddle-type shift with a fully automatic mode. The newly designed Honda Jazz body appeasr almost unchanged - in fact you would struggle to identify the differences until you had two Honda Jazz (old and new) standing next to eachother. Nevertheless, Honda has thoroughly updated the Jazz beneath the good looking surface, with a revised chassis, improved steering, sharper brakes and better controlled suspension. The Honda Jazz body rigidity and bodystructure has also been increased. Taken together, these improvements will ensure the new Honda Jazz will continue with its unrivalled owner popularity and general public acclaim. For some, the relatively high price and small discounts are hard to justify; for others, the superior value of the new Honda Jazz proves itself over time (not just in the showroom).
