NEW PEUGEOT 408 ANNOUNCED - FOR 2010
An all new Peugeot 408 will replace the current Peugeot 407 and will have a somewhat more conservative look than the outgoing a 407. The new model is to move a much shorter distance in its evolutionary looks compared to the 406 / 407, say Peugeot sources. Despite this cautionary design strategy, the new Peugeot 408 will provide a memorable and distinctive look, helping it to differentiate character from direct competitors such as the Laguna and Mondeo. Peugeot's new 408 is to offer a new wider range of powerplants - including a new hybrid diesel option which will provide exceptional economy and emissions. Peugeot pioneered diesel_hybrids, for example in the new Peugeot 3008, which is now extending its high-tech thinking into the forthcoming range of larger, executive 408 vehicles. The new Peugeot 408 will be one of the most economical and green executive saloons available on the market, with incredibly low CO2 emissions (which are said to fall below the benchmark 100 gkm level). Build quality will be improved, both externally and within the cabin. Peugeot has focussed on achieving Germanic levels of materials and construction for the new car. The new Peugeot 408 will be seen publicly later in 2009 but will not go on sale in UK Peugeot dealer showrooms until later next year. Peugeot 408 new car prices have not yet been announced, but are expected to start at under £16,000 on the road once Peugeot discounts and deals are taken into account.
New Peugeot 308 Coupe Cabriolet - Review
The Peugeot 308CC offers the same 1.6L engines from the 308 hatchback, or the powerfull 308 2.0L diesel which produces 140PS. The 1.6L is available with 120PS, 143PS or 150PS, whilst the 143PS model is also offered with a 4-speed auto box. The 150PS turbo petrol motor suits the car best, reaching 60 mph in under 11secs with a 6-speed manual transmission that gives the Peugeot 308 CC a sporting character. Peugeot has managed to improve the chassis; there is little body flexing (which cannot be said for some other CC converibles). Roadholding and hadling can be said to be safe and secure rather than sharp or exciting. The new Peugeot 308CC is better constructed and should also be more reliable than the old 307. The cabin now has an upmarket and solid feel that was previuosly lacking, but we are not in Japanese territory yet. The 308CC offers airbags that inflate from its frontseat head rests. The 308 CC can actually accomodate four people, provided front passengers don't need their seat fully back. It's more than a 2+2 and is fine for kids in the back seats. The bootspace is fine with the roof up, however 465L becomes 266L with the roof open. The cabin is well delsigned and offers good comfort, but visibility isn't ideal with blind spots created by a steeply angled screen and thick rear pilars. Pricing is competitive: the range starts at £19995 OTR, though the 150PS 1.6L turbocharged version costs £21795 OTR before any optional extras. Overall, the new Peugeot 308 CC is a stylish and practical all-year round car, and Peugeot dealers have them in stock now.
NEW PEUGEOT 207 IS GREENER
Peugeot's 207, has become even “greener” with its introduction of two new models, the Peugeot 207 Economique and 207 Economique+. These new cars have CO2 emissions of just 99 gkm. As of one year ago, 1 in every 6 new cars sold which emit fewer than 120 gkm CO2 was made by Peugeot. The French car maker says environmental protection is an integral part of design within all its cars and vans. Peugeot is will continue to develop lower emissions. Luanched at the Geneva MotorShow this year, the new Peugeot 207 Economique is a direct result of this aim using the newest technology to reduce emissions to just 99 gkm. The new Peugeot 207 Economique goes onsale to UK buyers this October and is offered with two trims, the Peugeot 207 Economique and Economique+. The new Peugeot 207 3-door price will start at £12995 OTR. Standard spec includes: aero stylingpack, 15 inch wheels with special Aero trim, electronic airinlet flap, EBFD, adjustable seatheight, remote control c/locking, curtain airbags and so on. The Economique+ also includes A/C, electric mirrors and tripcomputer. The new Peugeot 207 Economique has the excellent and well proven 1.6L HDi diesel motor. Fuel economy and CO2 have both been reduced by an EGR heatexchanger which cools reinjected exhaust gas. It is further enhanced by new Peugeot engine_management software and a new 5-speed transmission which offers a higher finaldrive ratio than in any other Peugeot 207.
