Mercedes-Benz SL
The Mercedes SL has remained one of the world's most desirable sports cars for generations. Its name carries an historical relevance that is not lost to any customer of the brand and, fortunately, the Mercedes promotes the connection with its past extensively. The 1st SL was launched in 1952. Based loosely on the racing version of the car (W194), the W198 close-coupled two-seater was also the 1st production car to feature fuel injection. It has become known as "The Gullwing" for its vertical opening doors and certain elements of its iconic design have been carried onto subsequent versions of the SL over the years. Although not in any specific order, another famous SL was the "Pagoda-roof" (W113) version of the sports car, a good example of which still makes an ardent enthusiast weep with joy. Through various versions, bloated by North American import regulations, to the current R230 modelrange introduced in 2001, which is almost the complete opposite of its former editions, the SL has remained as a vital "halo product" for the German manufacturer. It is impeccably built and detailed so beautifully that its fairly large dimensions (fortunately, there is a smaller SLK modelrange range for fans of more wieldy, less touring-class modelranges) can be forgiven for its sensuous lines and beguiling style. It is the consummate autobahn-eater, consuming kilometers with ease, thanks to long-legged gearing (always a feature of the SL), eminently comfortable and supportive seats and plenty of space for two people on a touring holiday, with the added benefit of a convertible tin-lid, should the weather turn inclement. A head-turning delight to observe and a total pleasure to drive, the SL remains in the upper echelons of true sports car motoring. The Mercedes SL350 Sport Blue Efficiency and SL500 make a terrific finance solution with lower rate or even free PCP/PCH finance, because the Mercedes SL350 depreciation remains low comparing it to other big sports convertibles in the high-end market. Mercedes SL350 Blue Efficiency and SL500 contract hire deals often on specialoffer with reduced cost leasing available on all new Mercedes SL350 Blue Efficiency and SL500 Tiptronic models for all Mercedes buyers, private or business if VAT registered.
